Exorcism Cited As Motive Behind Murder

Exorcism Cited As Motive Behind Murder

In an unusual twist in what is an already sad case, the boyfriend of E'Dena Hines, Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter, has been charged with fatally stabbing the 33-year old on the street outside her home in New York City.

Early sources are stating that the boyfriend, rapper Lamar Davenport, was in a drug-induced state that led him to believe that evil spirits were in the body of Hines, prompting him to attempt to 'exorcise' those demons. According to witnesses, he was reciting Biblical verses while stabbing her and extolling the devils to leave her, invoking Jesus frequently while stabbing her 16 times.

Sadly, this is not the first case of someone with an altered mental state commiting murder in the name of exorcising demons. Last year, two women were arrested for killing two children after believing them to be posessed. No drugs are mentioned in that case, but mental illness is thought to have played a part.
